United Voice (Persatuan Advokasi Diri Orang Bermasalah Pembelajaran Selangor & Kuala Lumpur)

Self-Advocacy Society of Persons with Learning Disabilities

United Voice (UV) is the first society in Malaysia that is led by persons with learning disabilities which was registered in July 2005. Our members (140 members) include persons with Down Syndrome, Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy and other specific learning disabilities. At United Voice, we believe that everyone shares the same rights, responsibilities, and potential for growth, even if one is born with a learning disability. United Voice’s mission is to empower our members to self-advocate, and to ensure that persons with learning disabilities are given the right to education, employment, community living and to be respected as individuals. United Voice provides employment for our members in our Employment Project (Project I’mPossible) which was started as a means to provide unemployed members with the opportunity to experience work-life and to earn an income. Project I’mPossible serves as a platform to train members in vocational and social skills to enable them to work in the open employment.
