All aboard Captain Shrimp for tasty Tex-Mex platters

Catering only to takeaways and deliveries, this restaurant is dishing up tacos, quesadillas and much more with its Christmas offerings.

If you’d like to avoid the hassle of cooking, why not order from restaurants that are offering delicious Christmas platters delivered right to your doorstep? One such establishment is Captain Shrimp, a takeaway and delivery-only restaurant at Jaya One in Petaling Jaya that serves all things Tex-Mex, its menu featuring an array of authentic southern American, Mexican and seafood dishes.

Since tacos are the iconic staple of the American south, the restaurant serves two different types – the baked corn chicken taco, with a crunchy shell made of whole corn kernel; and the soft-shell chicken taco, which features a spicy pan-grilled chicken wedged into a soft taco with slices of spicy jalapeno, topped with a creamy cheese sauce. Captain Shrimp is also offering two platters as part of its Christmas menu. The “Jingle Bell Rocks!” platter is for six people and is priced at RM350, while the “Jingle All the Way!” platter, for 12, costs RM588.

The platters include seafood and quesadillas which, like tacos, are a mainstay of Mexican cuisine.There are large, crispy fried shrimp and fried calamari, featuring springy squid with a thick and crunchy coating. The chicken quesadilla comprises flavourful fajita-style chicken accompanied by generous fillings of capsicum and spicy peppers.For lovers of all things cheese, the dual-cheese quesadilla is a dream come true: melted cheese paired with crunchy green capsicum and a dash of ground black pepper

Then there is the baked potato skins, an exceptional appetiser that is crispy with a garlic-buttered exterior and loaded with cheese and other goodies. Lastly is the baked honey butter wings – rich, sweet, and likely a dietician’s nightmare, these delectable chicken wings are worth every mouthful.
