TENUN Fashion Week
Project Information
Problem Statement
Weaving communities throughout ASEAN are struggling to showcase their handweaves and fashion events generally bring fashion designers to the centrestage without shedding light on the identities of weavers or showcasing traditional weave techniques and patterns.
This results in an appreciation of the fashion and the design, but they events lose the stories of the real heros and their traditions, customs and cultures.
Solution
The proposed TENUN Fashion Week brings together collections produced by weaving communities throughout ASEAN. This event intends to bring weavers to the forefront. An e-commerce portal shall be set up to allow their collections to be purchased online.
TENUN Fashion Week shall have its virtual spotlight event on 15-17 October 2021.
Other Details
The title sponsor of this event is Maybank Foundation under the Maybank Women Eco-Weavers Programme. We are looking for further potential sponsors who wish to assist under funded weaver communities to produce their respectives fabrics and collections so that they can participate in this fashion event. We are also seeking collaborative partners who can help provide linkages so that participating weaver communities are able to have access to markets.
