Get involved in the future of animal feed and fertiliser

The Malaysian food chain is extremely vulnerable. From the meat all the way to the fruits and vegetables we consume on a daily basis, we are at the mercy of others.

Annually, we require approximately 2.4 million tonnes of poultry feed and 60 thousand tonnes of fishmeal to sustain the poultry and aquaculture industry. Frighteningly, a majority of the ingredients that constitute these respective feeds are unsustainable, imported and rising in price.

Similarly, roughly 60% of the fertiliser we use are imported. These are mainly chemicals that ruin topsoil, expedites toxic buildup and impair soil productivity.

Something has to change.

We want to feed Malaysia (and the world!) sustainably. At a high level, our solution is to use black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) to consume and ingest agro-byproducts, yielding animal protein and organic fertiliser.

The BSFL will be harvested and used as high-quality protein in pet food, poultry feed, and fishmeal. With high contents of protein and antimicrobial peptides, we see this as the feed of the future.

Meanwhile, frass (excrement of the BSFL) is perfectly suited as an organic fertiliser for crops such as durian, banana, chilli, pineapple, etc. due to its high organic matter and rich NPK values.
