Specialist, IP & Policy Management - Innovation Commercialisation
Kuala Lumpur • Business • PermanentThis role plays a key role in driving innovation at MRANTI. This role demands a keen understanding of intellectual property (IP) law and a commitment to safeguarding innovation. This role is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing intellectual property (IP) policies for the Department. You will analyse IP laws, develop policies and advise stakeholders, ensuring the department protects its creations and fosters a culture of IP awareness.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Science, Technology, Engineering or a related field.
- Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property Law or a related field is preferred..
- Strong understanding of Malaysian and international IP laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in intellectual property policy development, implementation or research.
- Possesses the following knowledge and understanding will be an added advantage:
- Knowledge of operational processes regarding intellectual property (IP) business and ability to prepare, file, and maintain IP documentation and records.
- Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis and ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information.
- Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
- Knowledge of project administration best practices and ability to use organisational strategies, practices and tools for administering projects.
- Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operations in support of the overall business plan.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis of national and international IP laws, policies and best practices.
- Assist in drafting, revising, and implementing IP policies for the Department.
- Analyse the impact of IP policies on innovation, research and development and technology transfer.
- Contribute to the development of strategies to promote public awareness and understanding of IP rights.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on IP matters to internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with relevant government agencies, international organisations, and stakeholders on IP issues.
- Monitor developments in IP law and policy and provide updates to the Ministry/Department.
- Prepare reports and presentations on IP policy issues.
